A twin image panorama of the Loerie storage dam due west of Port Elizabeth. The dam provides Port Elizabeth with about a third of the drinking water the city uses every day.
These pictures were taken the day after a major water pipeline from two other dams to Port Elizabeth was damaged by flooding and we were facing a major crisis.
Coming into work today saw the sun beaming through gaps in the rain clouds that covered the city and had to grab a couple of photos.
A couple of shots of my mom’s favourite pincushion protea bush in full bloom. I’m not sure which of the many species this one is.
The intense colours are reminiscent of flames and wildfires, which is somewhat ironic since, like most fynbos, proteas need to be burned out every few years to clear the dead growth and trigger the seeds of the next generation.
A deep sunset captured early one evening from outside the house. 1/125th second exposure at 55mm f5.6 with ISO 200.
